I am Eric Glover, the creator of this site and the leader of the Doubtless Living Bible study group at ClearView Baptist Church in Franklin, Tennessee. I am married to Tina Glover and we have two grown children and one wonderful grandson. I have taught Bible study classes to adults of all ages for more than 25 years and teaching God’s Word is one of my greatest passions in life. I am an ordained Southern Baptist minister and I attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. I have served churches in many capacities over the years, but I am called by God to teach His Word and that is what I love doing most of all. Professionally, I serve as the Vice President of Retail Operations for LifeWay Christian Stores, one of the largest Christian retailers in the world with 160 stores across America. I have a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Missouri Southern State University. I am also a Certified Public Accountant, although I have not practiced public accounting for many years.

If you are a big college football fan like me, then this is
one of the biggest weekends of the year. Now settle down SEC fans, I didn’t say
it was THE biggest, just one of the biggest. But I assure you that the world
stops in Oklahoma on this day every year, because it’s time for the Red River
Shootout, or that’s what we always called it at my house before the PC police
changed the name. Usually played on the second Saturday of October, today’s
meeting with be the 115th contest. Sorry Vol fans, no orange allowed
in my house today…
Fortunately, my wife and I are equally yoked: we both root
for the Sooners! But I know that’s not the case in many households. There are
many divided houses with opposing allegiances. You name it; divided houses
exist across the land. It could be Alabama vs. Auburn, Tennessee vs. Florida, Clemson
vs. USC, Michigan vs. Ohio State, or even Army vs. Navy to name just a few. If
you live in one of those divided houses, then you know better than I just how contested
the rivalries can become. It’s so common they even make commercials about it.
Would it surprise you to know that Jesus talked about divided
houses too? The kind of divisions that are based on bitter rivalries with truly
dire consequences for the losers. Well He did, but He wasn’t talking about sports
teams and games. The divisions that Jesus talked about are much more serious
and the consequences much more critical. And would you believe it, Jesus boldly
claims that He is the instigator of theses family divisions.
What am I talking about? Peek at the last ten verses of Luke
12 for a preview and then join us tomorrow for the rest of the story. You’ll
never look at one of those divided house flags or split logo license plates the
same way again.
