When our daughter Haleigh was little, around 3-4 years old, she had an expression that I loved to hear her use. It usually came out fast with a bit of an elevated tone. Not quite a squeal but pitched high enough that you knew she was really excited about something. It was almost always accompanied by a big smile, happy feet, and hand gestures.
With her big brown eyes, she would look up at me and say, “Daddy, I’m so ‘cited!” And then she would go on to tell me about what made her so elated, with words pouring out of her little mouth at supersonic speed. She had a hard time pronouncing some words at that age, but that didn’t dissuade her, and it surely didn’t bother me. I knew exactly what she meant, even if I could not perfectly understand every word she said. She was super excited about something, and it was life changing to her!
After nearly eighty-five weeks of in-depth study, we have come to the penultimate passage in Luke Gospel’s, and I’m so ‘cited to tell you about it. But frankly, my excitement pales by comparison to the excitement of the principal characters in this passage. They too have had a life-changing encounter and they simply cannot wait to tell everyone about it. They drop everything, and race many miles through the darkness, just so they can tell their family and friends about it. It was a transformational experience and their hearts burned with desire to tell the story about it. They were super ‘cited!
What was it that had them so excited? What happened on the dusty road home from Jerusalem that got their attention? What occurred during dinner that energized them so much? Who was it that had such a transformational impact on them? Join us for our study this week and find out. You will not be disappointed, and I promise you will be challenged by what you learn.
