I am Eric Glover, the creator of this site and the leader of the Doubtless Living Bible study group at ClearView Baptist Church in Franklin, Tennessee. I am married to Tina Glover and we have two grown children and one wonderful grandson. I have taught Bible study classes to adults of all ages for more than 25 years and teaching God’s Word is one of my greatest passions in life. I am an ordained Southern Baptist minister and I attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. I have served churches in many capacities over the years, but I am called by God to teach His Word and that is what I love doing most of all. Professionally, I serve as the Vice President of Retail Operations for LifeWay Christian Stores, one of the largest Christian retailers in the world with 160 stores across America. I have a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Connecticut and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Missouri Southern State University. I am also a Certified Public Accountant, although I have not practiced public accounting for many years.

Guidelines for Christian Living - Doubtless Living

If you could change anything about yourself or your life, what would you change?  Would it be your health, your relationships, your finances, your job?  What is foremost in your mind that needs changing?  One thing is certain, there is no shortage of people who claim to know exactly what you need to change.

Much of the world earns a living catering to the desires of people for a new or different life.  Just stop for a moment and think about the commercials you have seen recently on television from major advertisers who want to change your lifestyle.  Only one week ago, dozens of companies lined up and paid millions of dollars each for a brief opportunity during the Super Bowl to influence your thinking.  Indeed, in today’s world we are used to being bombarded with these messages from all sides from the moment we wake up to the moment we lie down at night to sleep.

But, what about religious groups, do any of them use similar tactics in hopes of influencing your thinking…can you think of any who make similar bold claims about how they and their system can change your life?  Certainly there are.  Whether it is Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Mormonism, Scientology, New Age, Universalism, or even some in Christendom, there is no shortage of people who want to influence your thinking about spiritual matters and they vie to convince you their way is best.  But the truth is that only One person can deliver on the promise to truly change your life.  There is only One person who can give you new life and His name is Jesus!

New Life in Christ

In his letter to the church in Corinth the Apostle Paul wrote, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come” (2 Cor. 5:17).  Indeed, every believer who places their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior receives new life in Christ.  But unfortunately, many believers fail to experience the abundant life that Jesus intended (John 10:10) because they are not willing to surrender their will to Christ’s will for their life.

If we want to experience the abundant life offered by Jesus then we must be willing to submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ in our lives.  We must be willing to deny ourselves and take up our cross to follow Jesus as He demands (see more on Mark 8:34 here).  The Apostle Paul said it this way in his letter to the church at Colossae, “as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in Him.” (Col. 2:6).

What does that mean?  How do we “walk in Him?”  These are questions we will answer in the coming days as we explore Scripture together from Paul’s letter to the Colossians.  Paul’s letter focuses on the supremacy and all-sufficiency of Christ and it provides every Christian with excellent guidance for Christian living.

As we shall see in the coming days, the road to doubtless living runs through Colossians.  I hope you will join us for the journey as we explore this powerful book over the next few days.  As we learn more about New Life in Christ together we shall explore what the Apostle Paul has to say about New Standards, New Behavior, New Attitude, and New Involvement.  If you will allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life, a totally new you will likely emerge as you learn to set your minds on things above and allow the Spirit to transform you from the inside out.
