Doubtless Living – The Gospel of Luke
That You May Have Certainty

The Gospel of Luke is the only Gospel in the New Testament with a stated purpose.  Luke, a well-educated physician and close friend of the Apostle Paul, wrote an orderly account for his friend Theophilus so that he would have certainty concerning the things he had been taught about Jesus.

Luke undertook the writing of his Gospel because he had a strong desire for Theophilus to have more than head knowledge about Jesus.  Luke wanted his friend to develop a deeply personal belief and confident assurance in the indisputable fact that Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s promise and that He alone is the Way of salvation.  And, Luke wanted Theophilus and all like him to know that salvation is available directly to all nations through Jesus.

Understanding the truth about Jesus would allow Theophilus then and all of us today to live our lives without doubts and without fear.  So, Luke wrote a careful orderly account so that we may have certainty about that which we have been taught about Jesus (1:4).

In this series we dive deep into the Gospel of Luke, with an inductive approach, endeavoring to understand more deeply the Word of God; what it says, what it means, and how it applies to our everyday lives.  And through this study, we aspire to grow in our relationship with Christ that we may indeed practice Doubtless Living!
