Supernatural Love

Jesus makes it clear that spiritual fruit should be evident in our lives, if He is in us. In John 15:5 He said: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

Spiritual fruit only grows when we remain or abide in Christ. It comes from the vine as Jesus told his disciples in Matthew’s Gospel.

16By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Matthew 7:16-20

Jesus emphasized the importance of fruit by mentioning it seven times in four versus and if that wasn’t enough, he then told his disciples twice that they would be recognized by their fruit. So, I think it’s patently obvious from Scripture that our lives are to be so marked by the fruit of the Spirit that others know that we too are children of God.

I love the way Beth Moore says it; “The fruit of the Spirit is the supernatural outcome of being filled with the Spirit, the living proof that the Spirit of God dwells in us.” I’m guessing that’s why her ministry is entitled Living Proof Ministries.

In this study we will take a in-depth look at the first fruit of the Spirit mentioned by the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Galatians.

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23

What is supernatural love? How do we get it, how do we cultivate it and how do we share it with others? Those questions and more are answered in this, our first session in this eight-part series on Supernatural Fruit.
